Pardon My Lack of a Pithy Title

This was a slow blogging week. This is obvious as I didn't blog at all or at least not on a key board. It was all in my head, the words I wished to share with you all. My head was often occupied with thoughts that were bursting to be set onto electronic paper, but it didn't happen for one reason or another. So how funny is it that when I have some time to sit down & blog away, my head feels utterly blank. Maybe not quite blank but, I just don't want to bore anyone with details of today, when details of my days in the past week were far more exciting. Here's a couple examples.

Today I went to the Vegetarian House for the first time. The egg rolls were very comforting yet tasty & the faux chicken fried rice was pretty good.

But Saturday I met with my high school sweetheart for the 1st time in 10 years. That would have been far more interesting to blog about than my Chinese food.

Okay here's another one.

Today I walked to work with my sweetheart.

But yesterday I had hot sex with my sweetheart.

See the difference?

Anyway it's been in many ways an amazing week for me. Most of it has had to do with spiritual growth & seeing friends I had not seen in a while. But the details of all that will have to go in the left jean pocket of life called the past. And that pocket I don't feel like digging into today. Instead I'm thinking about what stories I want to tell in the future to an actual live audience.

I was asked to participate in Back Fence PDX. The theme is True Colors. For 6 minutes I tell a true story from my life based on the theme. It's supposed to be unscripted & un-memorized but at least loosely have a beginning, middle & end. I'm excited & know I might be nervous as the event draws near. Right now I'm just trying to think of the true colors in my life history. And of course I look to Cyndi Lauper to help shape a story from my past that represents my "true colors" because I grew up in the 80's and all. Her words:

And I'll see your true colors shining through. I see your true colors and that's why I love you. So don't be afraid to let them show. Your true colors. True colors are beautiful like a rainbow.

As sweet & poignant as those words are, in the moment they don't guide me to any good stories. But I know the right tale will come. The one that indeed expresses my true colors. Until then, I'll make a wish, disguised as a prayer, and think on the truth of myself that only I can share.
